Compresses & Lotions

Lotions are made by mixing water with herbal preparations like infusions, decoctions, or diluted tinctures. They are applied to irritated or inflamed skin to soothe and heal it.

Compresses, on the other hand, are cloths soaked in lotions and applied to the skin. They are useful in reducing swelling, pain, and bruising, as well as cooling fevers and headaches.

HOW TO MAKE HERBAL LOTION

Prepare a herbal infusion and strain it well. If you are using tincture, mix it with water. Soak a clean cloth with lotion and bathe the affected area with the cloth.

HOW TO MAKE HERBAL COMPRESS

Soak a soft cloth in the lotion, and apply it to the affected area. Secure it with plastic wrap and leave it for up to 1-2 hours. Reapply as needed.

To store lotions, keep them in sterilized bottles with lids in a refrigerator for up to two days.

Prepare fresh compresses or lotions when they dry out or cool down.
