Herbal syrups are sweet, thick liquids made by combining a strong infusion or decoction with honey or unrefined sugar. They’re a great option when you need to take herbs that taste bitter or unpleasant—especially for children.
Recipe:
Infuse or simmer the herbs for the maximum recommended time to get the most out of their medicinal properties. Strain through a sieve, then mix the liquid with an equal amount of honey or sugar.
You can also add tinctures to the cooled syrup for extra potency.
Tip:
Pour the finished syrup into sterilized glass jars and store in a cool, dark place. Use cork stoppers to help prevent fermentation.
How to use:
Take 1–2 teaspoons, three times a day, as needed.
Homemade syrups can last up to 6 months.
